LITTLE BOXES ...

Hello & Welcome
Just prior to Christmas at my LSS the lovely Glenda
shared with us how to make these lidded boxes from cardstock
well what a frenzy of creativity that released
you really have never seen so many different coloured boxes made
Glenda certainly sparked us all into activity.
they hold cakes of 'Twilleys Soaps' which are also decorated
today I am sharing my take
using the SPRING PASTELS range from MEG"S GARDEN

BOX of FOUR

Trimmed with lace, flowers. organza ribbons, & bling
this box of pretty soaps would delight when given as a gift.

BOX of TWO

This double box has a lift up lid, is trimmed with lace around the sides.
pieces of Ephemera from the range complete the box top ..

SINGLES

these two boxes were inspired by a large matchbox
adding a metal handle to pull the drawer out
the soaps are nestled onto tulle or muslin

hope you liked my gift boxes ..they were fun to make

LAYOUTS in SPRING PASTELS ..

O Goodness I am so far behind in blogging ...
through this Christmas holiday season
I have running around chasing my tail
and am only now finally catching up with projects.
Not sure if any one else can get into a tangle like I do ....
my difficulty then is unravelling myself which I am in the process of doing
enough blahdy blah blah blah ......
I completed these Layouts in Meg's Garden Spring Pastels
I truly loved the delicacy of the colours it was so hard to cut into them
however cut I did ..
MEMORIES
it was a great pleasure to meet Meg in person ..
this photo was on a blustery winter's day
(how ironic it's on Spring Pastel papers)I met Meg along with members of the Garden team the previous day for lunch & forgot to take photos with her.
Jules, Stephen & I  were visiting Stirling & enjoying a cup of coffee at the Red Cacao
when Meg popped in off the off chance because the subject had come up at lunch
so we rectified the lack of a happy snap.
the GARDEN GIRLS
lunch in Mitcham with Heather, Adriana & Margaret
always a delight to catch up with these beautiful women & share some IRL time with them
BEAUTY
my darling daughter,
this is a very natural photo of her..
she really dislikes having her picture taken so occasionally I sneak a candid shot ...
The little frame on this LO was made by the lovely Margaret Mifsud, fellow Garden girl.

INSPIRED by ICELAND

hello to my visitors

For a while I have been pondering on what to create a piece of art representing Iceland
inspired by Tina Walker
the Northern Lights were an immediate thought however with what??
Researching further I found Iceland's national flower  the Mountain Aven
a glorious white with centres of yellow...
Here is my piece an 8 x 10 painting in acrylics, gel pen & gel medium
highlighted with seed beads & gems.

&  a very happy 5th Birthday to CSI.
Debbi invited retired detectives to dust off our kits & sleuth again

VINTAGE JOURNAL

Hello my friends,
Wishing you a very warm welcome
Today I'm sharing with you a work in progress
An album using the "Vintage Journal" papers
it will be a memory book of my maternal grandparents
Herbert (Bert) Moncrief & Lillian Mary Gedye.

The base of my book is made with a cardboard box,
which works out perfectly as the spine is already creased.
I trimmed it down to 13.5 x19.5cm

to cover I crumpled brown paper & glued down with Gel Medium
on both sides.

I then wiped stazon over emphasizing the edges & spine
using distress ink I smeared the pad over & lightly spritzed with water

when totally dry I painted over with gel medium
the cover now has a look of aged worn leather
I haven't as yet decided upon a finish for my cover,
it will be held together with a piece of leather with a clasp or buckle .
making the hinges
which are adhered together the adhered centrally to the inside spine
single pages are then adhered to the flaps
all patterned papers are distressed & inked
 inside cover
 face page
page 1 .. my grandpa

 page 2 .. my grandma ..

pages 4& 5 with a kraft envelope insert

.reverse side of the envelope

photos stored in the envelope  .. the family photo was circa 1952
my mum is on the R front & aunty on the left celebrates her 90 birthday this month.

pages 6& 7 .. my mum (Margaret Frances ( Peggy)) is the little one seated on the floor

pages 8 & 9
all pages now are covered & ready for pics as I find them

 page 8 flip out

pages 10 & 11
with another envelope
envelope insert

pages 12 & 13

pages 14 & 15
 page 15 flip out

 back page & inside cover
I am looking forward to finishing this so my family
has a knowledge of their heritage
these papers are just perfect for this kind of project
